Film: The Invisible Woman (12A)
Thu, 3rd July, 2014 @ 19:00pm - 20:45pm
£3 – £4.50Ralph Fiennes directs and stars in the true story of Charles Dickens’ secret affair with a youthful actress. In 1857, Charles Dickens is a married father of ten and the toast of literary society. But when he sets eyes upon 18-year-old actress Nelly Ternan, he is instantly smitten. As Nelly becomes both Dickens’ muse and his lover, the clandestine nature of their relationship takes a heavy toll. For her, the price of love is a life of ‘invisibility’. This lavishly staged costume drama is adapted by ‘The Iron Lady’ writer Abi Morgan from Claire Tomalin’s book of the same title. Co-starring Joanna Scanlan as Dickens’ long-suffering wife Catherine, the film also reunites director and star Ralph Fiennes with his ‘The English Patient’ co-star Kristin Scott Thomas, while Felicity Jones shines in a heart-breaking performance as Nelly.
