The MET OPERA: L’Amour de Loin
Sat, 10th December, 2016 @ 17:55pm - 20:15pm
£8 – £18
Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho’s breakthrough opera was described by the New York Times as “transfixing…a lushly beautiful score.”
First seen in 2000 at the Salzburg Festival, , it will now finally have its Metropolitan Opera premiere in a dazzling new production featuring glimmering ribbons of LED lights that extend across the length of the stage and over the orchestra pit
The story of the opera L’amour de loin is based on “La Vida breve” l, Prince of Blaye, one of the first great troubadours of the 12th century. His glowing passion for a woman from the East of whom he has only heard is the central theme of the French libretto.
